About Mahnke Landscaping
My parents started Mahnke Landscaping 47 years ago because they saw a need. They understood that land work required more than a quick crew and a truck—it required someone who cared about the details and showed up as if the job were their own.
I grew up in this business. From the time I could work, I was learning what it meant to do something well. That meant understanding the soil before you grade. It meant knowing why a retaining wall needs to be built a certain way. It meant showing up in a storm when a tree came down, not someday soon, but that day.
Over the years, we listened to what Pana needed. When customers asked for hardscaping, we learned it. When drainage became a problem in the area, we got certified in drain tile. When snow needed removing, we added that service. We didn't expand to chase trends. We expanded because people in our community had real problems, and we wanted to be the ones they could trust to solve them.
'We do this work the way we'd want it done on our own land.'

Being locally owned and operated isn't a marketing point for us—it's how we actually work. We live here. When we finish your driveway or install your landscape, we pass by it. That accountability changes everything. We don't rush. We show up when we say we will.
We learned early that the right tool matters, but the person using it matters more. Whether it's a skid steer or a shovel, you have to know what you're doing. That's why we handle most of our work ourselves instead of subcontracting it out. You're getting people who've done this before, not a relay of different crews.
Emergencies teach you a lot. When a tree comes down in a storm, a customer doesn't call back later. They call now. We've learned to be ready for that. Storm cleanup isn't something we do when we have time—it's something we prioritize because your property is damaged and you need help.
Real relationships mean saying no sometimes. We won't take on a job we don't think we can do right. It's better to be honest upfront than to leave someone disappointed at the end.
When you call or reach out, you're talking to someone who's actually going to do the work, not an office staff taking notes. We listen to what you need, whether it's a complete landscape design, concrete work, grading, or emergency tree removal. We ask questions because rushing into a job before you understand it is how mistakes happen.
We show up on time. We explain what we're doing and why. When we're done, your property works the way it should. If you have questions after the job, you can reach us. That's what locally owned means in practice.
Whether it's spring landscaping, summer storm cleanup, or winter snow removal, we're here for Pana. Give us a call. Let's talk about what you need.
